Solvang's Hidden Secrets

While you may have been to Solvang many times, today’s adventure takes us to places we’ve never explored and casts light on some of this Danish town’s hidden secrets. Enjoy a short docent-guided walking tour of this quaint old-world architectural-style town with a local guide. To appreciate Solvang's Danish heritage, we’ll visit the Elverhøj Museum of History & Arts which occupies the former residence of one of Solvang's most artistic families! The museum showcases the history of Solvang as the rooms are filled with the city’s historic photographs, artifacts, Danish arts, crafts and period pieces. Then explore a Lavender farm at the height of its blooming season; the fields should be breathtakingly beautiful against the backdrop of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Three hundred year old oak trees dot the grounds, and the driveway is lined with olive trees that were planted by the Spanish Missionaries over 180 years ago. Lunch at a Swedish buffet in Solvang will be included. We’ll take the scenic inland route past Santa Paula and Fillmore.
