Explores a musical theatre production for the beginning collegiate actor from audition to performance through lecture, research and rehearsals. Includes textual analysis, historical research, connecting text to dramatic action on stage, and developing vocal and physical techniques for the beginning actor. Public performance required.
Audition required before enrollment. This is a production course for the musical 'Legally Blonde.' Students are strongly recommended to also enroll in Music 116 concurrently. This is a late start course beginning 3/2 and ending 5/18. Preliminary auditions will take place on Saturday, 2/7 at 12pm, Monday, 2/9 and Tuesday 2/10 at 6:45 pm. Callback auditions will take place on Thursday 2/12 at 6:45 pm. Performance dates are 5/1, 5/2, 5/8 and 5/9 at 8 PM with matinee performances on 5/3 and 5/10 at 2 PM. In addition to the scheduled days and times of the course, students will also meet an additional 100 hours depending upon the rehearsal schedule. Hours are available during the following days and times: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm-10pm, Sunday, 4/26 from 11am-5pm, Saturday 5/2 and 5/9 from 5pm-10pm, Sunday 5/3 from 12pm-5pm and Sunday 5/10 from 12pm-7pm for dismantling of the set.
